A rotational change that sees Pat Cilliers come in at tighthead prop is the only change to the Lions run-on fifteen for this weekend’s game against Western Province.
Coach John Mitchell revealed that Jacobie Adriaanse – one of the best tightheads in the Currie Cup so far – has carried a huge workload over the first five rounds, hence the decision to give former Sharsk XV skipper Cilliers a run in the number 3 jersey.
A stickler for discipline, Mitchell dropped Mike Rhodes from the squad last week after the latter’s yellow card at Loftus. Having served his time, so to speak, Rhodes – a shoolmate of Cilliers’ at Michaelhouse – comes back into the number 18 jersey, replacing Joe Snyman, also a former Shark.
Lions: 15 Jaco Taute, 14 Deon van Rensburg, 13 Lionel Mapoe, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach, 11 Michael Killian, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Joshua Strauss (captain), 7 Derick Minnie, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Wikus van Heerden, 3 Patric Cilliers, 2 Bandise Maku, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg.
Replacements: 16 Martin Bezuidenhout, 17 Jacobie Adriaanse, 18 Michael Rhodes, 19 Warren Whiteley, 20 Rudy Paige, 21 Burton Francis, 22 Jannie Boshoff.

Another tough one . if we want to be the best we need to beat the rest !!! GO LIOOONS !!!
I don’t. know who to pick for this one.
Damn, Adriaanse is in my FL team!
@Original Pierre (Comment 3) : But Pat is in mine
@Greg (Comment 4) :
yea mine as well !!! VIVA !!!!!!!!!!
PROOOOOOBLEMS…….
Lionel Mapoe impressed me at 13…
Wont be a bad thing for Mvovo to try…but before Mvovo can make the move he needs to work on his defense big time…
Gonna be a tough one…
And the Lions are destined for a loss and the WP hungry for a victory as it has been 2 games since their last one…
Think WP will pip this one with the Lions getting a bonus point…
Glad to see that Hollenbach is healed as he has been playing real good int he midfield…
is this the same Morne that writes here

Lions forwards starting to come to the party, if they beat WP upfront like the Sharks did their backline will be able to do the rest
