After attending our first Sharks Ladies Breakfast last year – we were adamant that this was going to be our annual “break away”. So from about late January we started…nagging …like only woman can!

First – a big Thanks to KSA for sponsoring us the awesomely cool Sharksworld T-shirts! To all the ladies that attended in our group – you chicks ROCK! Thanks Reks for being a great travel companion and to Richard who came to introduce himself, to his own detriment, as he had to work the next day!

I e-mailed Sharksmad to get the dates….and so it continued – poor Megan Harris being bombarded with e-mails from the beginning of the year. Whatever we do, we just did not want to miss out on our brekkie with our boys!

It was rather the “groot trek” from JHB. Vanessa and Janine, Reki and myself, meeting up with Sharksmad and Me2. And as an added Bonus, the KSA’s was in South Africa and Kette completed our little group.

It did not start all that well though, as the two “clever” blondes (as we would like to think of ourselves) got lost ….only 5 minutes away from our start of our journey from King Shaka Airport, and KSA had to come to the rescue!

On Tuesday evening, we all met up at the A2A restaurant at the Sibaya for Supper. Richard, KSA and Sharksmad’s husband joined us for a lovely supper and some good wine! And it turned out a bit of a late night for some of us! (Taking into consideration that we had to be up at 5!)

The tables were laid pretty in pink and each of us got a lovely black and white Teapot. To top it off – some of those had stickers on the bottom! Silver stickers got a Police watch and Pink Stickers got Police shades! I am now reading time like a true cop! We got great stuff from Elizabeth Arden too!

There were so many new players and faces that we did not know off by heart. The gentlemen joining us at our table, was 19 year old Peet Marais. The poor bugger was so nervous and perspiring, that he had to change shirts on the way to the do…or so we were told by his big-boet, Jandre!

It has to be said, that I think the Sharks is the only Union who treat there female supporters like this! And what a bunch of awesome guys – I simply cannot imagine supporting any other!

We had loads of fun. Dancing, smoothie making comp, questions and answers. And some of it was to milk the situation with the somewhat scared younger players. Yours truly got the chance to select a player to dance on stage – obviously I could not resist choosing the latest loosie sensation, Marcell Coetzee…something I think he wanted to kill me for!

Then there was Paul Jordaan that was just so super stoked that there was an “Afrikaanse Tannie” too!

I had to do some investigation after the breakfast as to who was who in the Sharks Zoo, but managed some awesome signatures and photos! Especially with the French Flair and Big Boy Daniel Adonga!

So without further boring you with something you will not understand until you actually experience it – here’s the evidence!

Till next year, Boys! Look out for “Die Tannie en haar maatjies”

  • @Richard yeah let’s ask Rob, or Beet – maybe @ the academy they call him Peet? ‘Cause I said but aren’t u Peet? He said no mam I’m afrikaans its Pierre I then said but the team sheet said Peet he said he knew but he is Pierre

  • @Sharksmad – The Blog’s Dudette (Comment 38) : you realise that the afrikaans pronunciation of Peet does not rhyme with the english word “feet”? It is kind of pronounced like “Pierre” with a t on the end…Maybe that’s where the confusion comes in? :)

He’s definitely Peet (pronounced “peeyit”). His nickname is “yster”, but he’s definitely not Pierre.

  • @Ice – you certainly seemed to be having fun with the flasher boy on the stage;-) We were very lucky this year, we managed to get table 14 and had Stefan sitting with us, what a great guy. The player that surprised me the most was Adi – he was really into the whole thing and encouraged my friend Janet to grab his ass while they were having their pictures taken – lol. It was all harmless fun.
