It’s the 2nd of September and the 2011 Rugby World Cup is just a few short days away. We’ve been beavering away behind the scenes to prepare a special surprise just in time for the start of the greatest rugby competition on earth and are proud to announce the birth of our sister-site (insert drumroll)… Bokworld!
Bokworld, you say? What on earth is that?
Allow me to elaborate!
Just as we’ve spent the last 3.5 and a half years growing Sharksworld from a crazy idea in a few people’s heads into what it is today (and what it is, by the way, is the premier non-official Sharks website anywhere in the world, just in case you were wondering!) we’ve decided that it’s time to launch a sister-site that is more focused on the international rugby scene – with our beloved Springboks as the focus. Having the two sites running in parallel (run by the same people, of course and according to the same rules and principles) will allow us to be a bit more specific in targeting our content at the appropriate audience. In short, Sharksworld continues to provide you nothing but the best coverage of the Sharks and South African domestic (and regional) rugby, while Bokworld is where we’ll cover international news and opinion.
But wait, you cry… does these mean I’m getting LESS for my money on Sharksworld?
The answer to that, of course, is not really, because the sites are run by the same people, with the same great group of authors providing the content. Any international stories that would, in the past, have gone up on Sharksworld will now be published on Bokworld, but if you have a look to your right, you’ll notice that we’re providing clear links to those stories from here. Even better news is that you can use your existing Sharksworld login details over at Bokworld without needing to register again. The experience, in short, should be pretty close to seamless.
You’ll even get Sharksworld points for making comments on Bokworld! Now isn’t that nice?
So that’s it, really! Head on over to Bokworld to read the welcome article and have a look around at some of the World Cup stories we’ve already got up there – and rest assured there will be PLENTY more in the days and weeks to come. Rest assured, though, that we remain as committed as ever to good old Sharksworld – we love this place, it is our baby and is not ever going ANYWHERE – and will continue to bring you everything that you’ve come to expect and now a whole lot more, through the combination of Sharksworld and Bokworld.

I LIKE!!!!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 1) : why thank you
I do too!
Now all we need is for the bloody World Cup to kick off already!!
Well done Rob! This is a great initiative!
Rob, your new site won’t let me log in with my Sharksworld credentials. Apparently I have insufficient permission!?
@Culling Song (Comment 4) : oh dear… let me fix
Good stuff.
@Culling Song (Comment 4) : sorry about that… it’s all fixed now.
Permissions thing
Rob are you going to create a mobile site for Bokworld?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 3) :
DAMN RIGHT on both counts.
@robdylan (Comment 7) : Thanks!
@Ben (Comment 8) : in time, yes!
@robdylan (Comment 11) : Cool.
looks awesome!
@Talent (Comment 13) : thanks!
Moer hulle!
@Big Fish (Comment 16) :
Moer hulle weer en weer.
Great idea and all the best with it’s success! But why is the colour scheme black? Shouldn’t it be more, sort of, green and goldish?
@rhineshark (Comment 18) :
I dont think there was any intentional colour selection to be based with the Sharks..
The SW site has always had a blue stint to it..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 19) : I thought it was because the shark is a Blue Mako.
Nice one guys, looking forward to using…
“run … according to the same rules and principles”
Great stuff! This will fill a great need because just about every discussion on the other SA rugby sites inevitably veers down the exact same path. You can draw your own conclusions on what exactly that path is.
I’ll let all my non-Shark buddies know about the site.
One day, you’ll be just a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.
@vanmartin (Comment 22) : Excellent. Spread the word.
@robdylan (Comment 2) :
Nice one Robd !
Can’t believe its been 4 years already …have come a long way.
Congrats to you KSA and all involved.
@CoffeeshopBok;-) (Comment 25) : you gotta stop disappearing like that
Where are you now?
@CoffeeshopBok;-) (Comment 25) : you won’t believe it dude… but I’m going to be BACK in NL for the start of this year’s world cup too!
@robdylan (Comment 27) :
Excellent !
Cant change it now ..
Its a good omen , Im in Joburg now and should be for a while. You remember the pub the kangaroo where u told me of your idea … and ofcourse the Eng game ..
Will u be in Den Haag ?
@CoffeeshopBok;-) (Comment 28) : na – amsterdam.
And yes – I remember all the discussions we had. You helped me get through some very tough times when my “blogging destiny” seemed to be quite severely hampered by some very narrow-minded people!
@robdylan (Comment 29) :
@robdylan (Comment 29) :
Nice the Dam !
lol I recall … wonder where those narrow minded people are blogging now.
Great idea on Bokworld , I only come here for my rugga news and an international flavour will be exciting.
@CoffeeshopBok;-) (Comment 31) : well – mostly the same place as always
@robdylan (Comment 29) :
By the way howz the running going ?
@robdylan (Comment 32) :
Gotcha
I’d hate to see what kind are posting over at the smurf site ..
@CoffeeshopBok;-) (Comment 33) : ugh… afraid it isn’t… got a pesky ITB strain that just ins’t going away.
Need to get off my ass and do something about it
