The U19’s face the Bulls this weekend, kick off around 12h40 already, as they seek some pride after a nightmare loss against the Lions last weekend. They are currently in sixth spot on the log and will have to start making some serious inroads of they are to make the play offs.
There have been changes to the team, starting in the front row with captain Allan Dell shifting from tighthead to loosehead, making space for Nicolaas van Dyk at tighthead. In the back row, Guy Alexander falls to the bench with Alwyn Jansen van Vuuren starting in the 7 jumper and Stephan Deyzel getting a starting spot.
In the backs, schoolboy rugby star Robert du Preez falls to the bench and is replaced by Heinrich Arendse, who played wing last week! Janco Tiedt comes into the right wing for the shifting Arendse.
The Sharks U19: 15. Keelin Bastew, 14. Janco Tiedt, 13. Andrew Holland, 12. Ruan Allerston, 11. Siyabonga Tom, 10. Heinrich Arendse, 9. Ivan Ludick, 8. Stephan Deyzel, 7. Alwyn Jansen van Vuuren, 6. Khaya Majola, 5. Stephan Lewies, 4. Wade Elliot, 3. Nicolaas van Dyk, 2. Franco Marais, 1. Allan Dell (Capt)
Reserves: 16. Senzo Mtshali, 17. Simon Kerrod, 18. Ernst Ladendorf, 19. Jason Klaasen, 20. Guy Alexander, 21. Nicol Linde, 22. Robert du Preez, 23. Riaan van Zyl.

These guys have an uphill battle waiting for them..
I’m just waiting for Muzi to come some smirking comments..
If past results are anything to go by, then every week is an uphill battle for them.
The sharkies are in for a tough match.I like the look of my bulletjies especially our backline..Tony Jantjies…Rudi van rooyen…christopher bosch and small smith have a chance to make the 2012 sa under 20 side.Christopher is having a superb season at 12 andile jho can not even make the starting line up.
@McLovin (Comment 2) :
Spot on..
If they finish last does that mean they get relegated? And what happens to the currie cup under 21′s and 19′s from next year since its gonna be 6 teams in the premier division,does that mean its the same for under 21′s and 19′s or do they stay the same? Someone please explain
Its worth noting that our loose trio has two glenwood boytjies by the names of open side flank mayrick walker and shaun adendorff.Happy to see nardus van der walt is fit again another talent at number 8.
@Poisy (Comment 5) :
Good question that..
Will do some research and see what we can dig up!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) : thanx
The super powerful Bulls team incl 2 Glenwood old boys – crap! We’re exporting too much valuable talent

Hans scriba got a rude awakening lol…times are changing the sharks academy is failing to attrack alot of talented players.In my honest opinion the bulls and wp are leading the way in terms of player recruitment.Not about the money lol rather the desire..motivation.. and the dream to wear the blue jersey lol.
Oh yea and varsity cup rugby.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) : I think there is a promotion/relegation playoff for the team in bottom spot ie SWD and Valke in u19 and u21.
This was for Hendrikp and Dancing Bear

Xander janse van rensburg our beloved junior bulls scout has some very interesting details to tell me concerning the stefan ungerer saga something fishy and also marne coetzee.
@beet (Comment 12) :
Thanx beet..
I actually cannot find any information regarding the Age Group Currie Cup tournaments..
I wonder what happened hmmm external factors…outside influences..dishonesty and parents probably played a part very interesting.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 15) : well I guess we will find out next year what’s gonna happen to the juniors
@Muzi (Comment 16) : I heard that Marne had signed for the Sharks and wud be excluded from certain cup games in the Highveld next season coz of his age – these were the reasons given by his uncle for him moving schools
What happened to Anton Hauptfleisch?
@PaarlBok (Comment 19) : Gavin Hauptfleish is injured.
The Sharks are looking to sign a 13 year old that kicks 40m+.
Do you know of any?
@beet (Comment 20) :
Your welcome Boet. Pretty interesting to see a few not really appreciate that kick which I feel is one of the best I have witness all my life.

Porter – Potgieter
Mruphy – Murray
Steenson – Steenkamp
Swainston – Swanepoel
Hobson – Hougaardt
@beet (Comment 25) : Concerning blommetjies i might be harsh on the dude its his size that i am worried about maybe he will be a gio aplon.
But he was brilliant ant under 19 level stepping sooo many players i have not seen that this year yet.
Take Ulrich Beyers he was an unknown quantity we had to sign him he has a big boot…very strong in the air and he is not afraid to hit the line a brilliant free flowing player with a good attitude.
@beet (Comment 24) :
It’s being released on Thurs I believe, just in time for the world cup!
It’s not without it’s flaws, but I’ve done a lot a research into it, and it looks much better than the Rugby 2008 (oops, world cup) edition. The commentary seems to be a weakness, but I prefer to listen to music anyway. The general game play seems to be much better, but the main advantage is that it has the super 15 (or Rugby 15 due to lack of SA license), Aviva, top 14 everything. Also all the international teams etc. It also has a very detailed player model, so that you can create and update players as you see fit. It seems to invoke the rugby atmosphere better than WC 2011 also.
Obviously it comes down to personal choice, but for me, I would rather spend the time (or getting you guys to!!) to get a polished and realistic game that has a much longer lifespan than the old 2008 rehash. Although 2011 WC has the SA license, most players are only seen from behind, and there is little likeness. Also the gameplay is ok, but hasn’t evolved enough from 2008. Lineouts and scrums aren’t really a contest.
I think it should be available at most retail outlets, I have pre ordered from take 2 (or whatever they are called now) and I believe it comes with a signed ball and book from Percy (with the pre order)
Hope that helps
@PaarlBok (Comment 22) : Barefoot nogal….monster kick.
Wow – I see the Bulls have contracted Jan Serfontein en Dries Swanepoel for two years….very clever move imo by the Bulls…Sharks was sleeping here…
@Ice Bokkie (Comment 30) : Trust me Ice. Hans Scriba did work very hard to get Jan and Dries to join the Academy.
Jan Serfontein is hot property. Altho he’s still at school, just getting him to wear branded headgear would have set a well known sponsor I know back quite a bit of dough.
There is a lot of compo for the signatures of top SBR players. As a result, most of the best ones are signed up in Gr.11 these days.
