The Sharks U21’2 take on the Bulls this weekend, kick off being at 14h40, as they attempt to continue their climb up the Currie Cup log. They are currently in third spot, five points behind the Bulls who are in the second spot.

A win tomorrow will close that gap and make for an interesting second half of the season as the teams are quite evenly matched. The U21’s have received some bad news this week as SA U21 flanker Francois Kleinhans has been ruled out for the rest of the season. His place in the starting line up is taken by the talented Chris Cloete.

The other change is in the front row as Shaun Malton falls to the bench for Monde Hadebe as the captains continue their rotation on a weekly basis. Peter du Toit comes onto the bench to provide cover at scrumhalf.

The Sharks U21: 15. Gouws Prinsloo, 14. Jaco van Tonder, 13. Piet Lindeque, 12. Heimar Williams, 11. Nico van der Westhuizen, 10. Fred Zeilinga, 9. Cobus Reinach, 8. Lubabalo Mtembu, 7. Siseko Jafta, 6. Chris Cloete, 5. Peet Marais, 4. Pieter-Stef du Toit, 3. Nick Schonert, 2. Monde Hadebe (Capt), 1. Danie Mienie.

Reserves: 16. Shaun Malton, 17. Njabulo Mkize, 18. Karolis Navickas, 19. Brynard Stander, 20. Peter du Toit, 21. Paul Jordaan, 22. Kieran Goss.

  • The weakened Bulls team is:

Clayton Blommetjies, Sampie Mastriet, Ulrich Beyers, Adri Jacobs, Cournall Skosan, JC Roos, Lohan Jacobs, Jono Ross (c), Wiaan Liebenberg, Dalton Davis, Franco Mostert, Gerno Eksteen, Gerhard Engelbrecht, Bongi Mbonambi, Juan Louw Schoeman. Replacements: Jacques Momberg, Basil Short, Rudolph Smit, JJ Breet, Xander Redelinghuys, Franco Maritz, Bradley Moolman. *Injured players not considered: Vincent Koch (knee), Mauritz Lombard (knee), Stephan Schoeman (jaw), Pieter van der Walt (knee), Stephan Pretorius (knee), Lean Schwartz (hamstring).

CJ Stander, Arno Botha, Louis Fouche, Francois Venter – all promoted to the senior team

So I think we have a good chance of causing an upset.

It seems SuperSport is letting us down again..

No sign of any delayed screening or even just highlights of the game..

  • Hmmm i have not seen ulrich beyers at 13 i heard he looks the beez neez atm.Hes a tough man to bring down and he is breaking the line the wp institute did wonders for him. When i look at the backline mastriet and beyers are the only players who will play senior rugby soon.I sadly do not really rate blommetjies..skosan…..the two jacobs and the pumas bound flyhalf jc roos.

  • @Muzi (Comment 6) : Its a big game for Wiaan.

Blommetjies may not be up there where you want him to be but he’s is quite an exciting player

  • @JustPlainSHARK (Comment 13) : They both lost.

    The u19 did very well against a strong Bulls u19 : 24-32

The u21 not so good, with just about all the 1st choice players available against a Bulls team that was there for the taking on paper : 28-37

But I didn’t see the games so the u21 could very well have played well and just been unlucky.
