With the Greek god Demetri Catrikilis having suffered a bicep injury Allister Coetzee has had to call in Isma-eel Dollie, with no sign of the recovered Lionel Cronje.

Coetzee has also made a couple changes in the pack, u21 youngster Quinn Roux is given a start in De Kock Steenkamp’s place, Brok Harris is finally given a rest with youngster Frans Malherbe also earning his first start and Wickus Blaauw makes his return from a 3 week conditioning programme.

On the bench Siya Kolisi makes his return from injury and Nic Groom is rotated again with Louis Schreuder, Harris will most likely feature in the second half and despite a good showing off the bench last week Nizaam Carr doesn’t get an opportunity to start with Coetzee favouring the bulk of Tertius Daniller and finally Deon Fourie makes a return form his broken nose. Promising ginger prop Steven Kitschoff returns to the u21 team for their big game.

Starting XV:
15. Conrad Jantjes, 14. Danie Poolman, 13. Johann Sadie, 12. Marcel Brache, 11. JJ Engelbrecht, 10. Isma-eel Dollie, 9. Dewaldt Duvenage, 8. Nick Koster, 7. Tertius Daniller, 6. Nick Fenton-Wells, 5. Quinn Roux, 4. Hilton Lobberts, 3. Frans Malherbe, 2. Tiaan Liebenberg (C), 1. Wickus Blaauw

Reserves:
16. Deon Fourie, 17. Brok Harris, 18. Nizaam Carr, 19. Siya Kolisi, 20. Nic Groom, 21. Berton Klaasen, 22. Steven Hunt

Referee: Sindile Mayende
Kick Off: Saturday, 16:00 – Newlands, Cape Town.

  • @Pokkel (Comment 1) : haha, I’m actually quite keen to see what he can offer, especially with a decent pack and backline. Its a great opportunity for him to silence his critics.

  • @molly (Comment 17) :

Haha. Seen a bit of him. He’d make a decent club flyhalf because he’s got reasonable skills and isn’t afraid to try something with the boot, but he won’t compete with the big boys. They’ll run all over him. I was no fan of Kurt Coleman but I’d have preferred him for this game.

Wouldn’t be afraid of picking an upset here. Could easily happen if they keep Sadie out of it.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 18) : Nah, I think he’ll be ok, its SR where I doubt he’ll be able to step up, his defence is fine. Also, we don’t really have too many options at flyhalf with all our injuries, I think Coleman is still out too. And obviously they don’t think Cronje is ready for the return, so its Dollie/Duvenhage to start and I’d much rather have a flyhalf starting at flyhalf.

Ja wouldn’t have done Duvenage any favours putting him at 10. Can’t say I’d have been happy about it either. WP 10 jersey must be cursed this season.

Anyone know much about Michael van der Spuy?

I see. Problem is he had a drop-goal for SA U19 side that won the tournament I believe. That got his name out there. Ever since then no one wanted to go near him because they don’t rate him, but so many people harp on about that and pretend that it makes him a good player.

Hopefully after this weekend that’ll be the end of it

  • @hendrikp (Comment 22) : Look he aint all bad, he and Delport were a very good halfback combo when they were kids but they never advanced their games.Ok Delport had plenty drama to deal with and can be forgiven but Dollie believed his own press a bit.

His not bad but he is also not good.

It seems to me that the Depth down i the Cape is looking very good.

Its a shame Sadie and Engelbrecht are heading North.
