The Sharks U21 team take on the Valke as the curtain raiser on Saturday, having beaten the Valke in the 68 – 23 in the first round clash. The Side sees a few changes to the team that came undone at Loftus last week, hoping to climb up the log with a good victory.

The most interesting change is in the backline, where Fred Zeilinga is shifted to scrumhalf to accompany Paul Jordaan in the halfbacks, which should make for some interesting viewing. The other inclusion in the backline is much talked about Kayde Fisher, who replaces Nico van der Westhuizen on the wing.

Amongst the tight five we see a few changes, the regular change being the rotation of captains in the hooker position, with Shaun Malton getting his turn. He will be joined by Njabulo Mkize in the front row, in the place of Nick Schonert. In the locks, Karolis Navickas gets a start in place of Pieter-Stef du Toit.

The match kicks off at 12h40.

The Sharks U21: 15. Gouws Prinsloo, 14. Jaco van Tonder, 13. Piet Lindeque, 12. Heimar Williams, 11. Kayde Fisher, 10. Paul Jordaan, 9. Fred Zeilinga, 8. Lubabalo Mtembu, 7. Siseko Jafta, 6. Chris Cloete, 5. Peet Marais, 4. Karolis Navickas, 3. Njabulo Mkize, 2. Shaun Malton (Capt), 1. Danie Mienie.

Reserves: 16. Monde Hadebe, 17. Nick Schonert, 18. Pieter-Stef du Toit, 19. Brynard Stander, 20. Cobus Reinach, 21. Andrew Norton, 22. Nico van der Westhuizen

  • Kade is a big lad to have on the wing! The scrumhalf selection shows SA’s preference for scrumhalfs that are play makers as opposed to just being someone who passes the ball to the play makers.

  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 4) : Im not sure if ill be there early enough to catch the whole game, maybe just the 2nd half. Having watched a few games that were shown on supersport i just noticed how many silly errors/penalties the Sharks juniors sides make. Not to say the seniors are perfect but that may be the reason why none of the youngsters are getting a look in at the moment.

  • Playing 9 might help Zeilinga develop, but hoping they still consider him a flyhalf?

Hey Richard. Did you see JP du Plessis has now taken over as the starting centre for WP U-21?

  • @hendrikp (Comment 10) : Jp has no contract with province!!! And he most definitely is with Sadie a great prospect for the future. If province don’t sign him, we should have a look…and news is province has got some finance issues, reason for not bettering(matching) JJ and Sadie’s offers.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 10) : also we have another Saffa being described as a future Ausie, Willie Du Plessis Jnr(Son of test wing willie senior) and willi Repia have been standout and invites to Qland or NsW group…for 2012…but nothing official yet…would be sad to see one of RSA ‘bok’ family run out in Gold and Green in stead of Green and Gold…

Re FredZ at scrummie, he’s played there often in the past. Completely comfortable.

Against the Valke, I can imagine..

But most of the backline is pretty much the same.. We def have no other centres if they dont even rest Heimar or Piet..

  • @Richard Ferguson (Comment 29) : which paul is this, jordaan? he played EVERYWHERE in italy, the most ammusing was at wing where he missed a tackle on the irish kid and planted his face firmly in the bushes :D

he played 10 @ Grey before Johan Goosen got there plus he played 10 for EP under age groups all along before going to Grey.
