Sharks centre-cum-wing Luzuko Vulindlu had been released to join French Pro D2 side Auch, it was confirmed today.

The 23-year-old three-quarter has had zero game time with the Sharks in 2011 after emerging as a shining light back in 2009, where he won a number of Super 14 caps. He also went on to play for the Emerging Springboks against the Lions that year, but a combination of injuries and a loss of form saw him play only a bit part for the Sharks in the 2010 season, before falling out of the picture entirely.

We’d like to wish Zuks all the best for his French adventure and hope that the move revitalises his career. Bon voyage et bonne chance!

I feel completely out-classed on this thread!

I wish Bazooka had more of a shot, but thr fact is that due to injuries and loss of form, he couldn’t take the gap.

Hope he makes loads of dosh and comes back a more rounded player. Has the size and pace to go far – but he aint shifting Mvovo and Sithole.

  • @Big Fish (Comment 6) : He didn’t have to shift Mvovo or Sithole. He’s a 13 and that’s where he prefers to play..

  • @Ben (Comment 7) :
That is true – but I don’t believe that he ever played there for the senior side – seemed that they saw him as a wing.

I think you know my feelings about our 13′s, but that was the reality if it.

  • @Big Fish (Comment 9) : @Dancing Bear (Comment 8) : We were Stupid not to give him a run at 13 in last Year’s Currie Cup when he seemed to be in good nick.

  • @Ben (Comment 10) : 13 is a very unlucky number

Ben, although in hindsight, it seems that we should have given him a run in the 13 jersey, the fact that the Sharks won the CC last year, with Stef playing 13 and captain, it is hard to say that not playing him in the CC at 13 was wrong.

  • @Dancing Bear (Comment 11) : We could have won the CC without Stef at 13. I know most will disagree with me but imo Stef was pretty poor at 13 last year. Same as this year but the rest of the team were firing and so Stef’s poor performances pretty much went unnoticed.

  • @Ben (Comment 12) : Ben, not arguing, my only point is that since we did win the CC, any criticism given now (this year) fits right into the category of hindsight being 20/20. You may very well be right, but that decision is far easier to make now, after we won the CC than it was last year while we were still trying to win it again. So not saying you are wrong, just that it is not really fair to be critical of team selection last year with 20/20 hindsight, especially since the selections that Plum did make won the CC for the Sharks.

  • @Dancing Bear (Comment 13) : My only point that I’m trying to make is had we given him a chance we might not have sat in the situation we are now. Regarding our centres.

  • @Ben (Comment 14) : We MIGHT not have Ben, but again, it is speculation. I am not arguing your point Ben, in fact I think you make a good argument, it is just that the argument is being made a year later with everything we learned over the past year to help back you up. I honestly do not remember a single person trying to push Zuks over Stef in the 13 jersey last CC season, well not on Sharksworld anyway.

So I am saying I don’t disagree with your point that we would have learned something if we had played him at 13 last year, but who really knows if we would have won the CC without Stef last year.

  • @Ben (Comment 14) : apparently luzuko had “average hands” hence the lack of game time.

  • @Dancing Bear (Comment 16) : Yup I understand what your saying. But the real point here is the Sharks should learn to plan ahead. Maybe Plum had a reason for not playing him at 13, we might never know. But I’m like you said, merely speculating. What else is there to talk about really?

  • Vulindlu”s conditioning was not up to scratch which was evident in the few club games he played. The playe ronly has himself to blame for not forcing his way in at the Sharks. Maybe France will do him well but if he doesnt have the drive to condition himself…well we all saw wat Frans Steyn looked like coming back from France.

  • @Megatron (Comment 25) :  But that’s what you get for pissing off Floyd with a headbut. Victor made a rookie mistake and got knocked flat on his ass!

I wish Manny and Floyd can just fight already. Would be one of the greatest fights of all time.
