With the Sharks facing Western Province in Durban this weekend, the latter team’s frankly ridiculous injury list becomes a matter of more than just passing interest.
The latest player to join the “crock squad” is loose forward Nick Koster, who was stretchered off against the Cheetahs last weekend and appears to have picked up what may be a serious neck injury. In a side already reeling from the loss of Schalk Burger to the Boks and Duane Vermuelen and Pieter Louw to injury, losing Koster as well is a body blow. Nick Fenton-Wells and Tertius Daniller are both in their first seasons of Currie Cup rugby and unless Louw makes a return from injury this week, one of Siya Kolisis or Nizaam Karr will join them in a very green-looking loose trio.
We’ll update you further on the ongoing injury situation for both sides as the week progresses.

Koster is soft.
@Big Fish (Comment 1) :
Can’t we fly in Brits?
And also missing Namibian Kitshoff.
@McLovin (Comment 4) :
Can’t he come back for this weekend’d game?
Seeing as they are finished now..
Deon Fourie has to start at flank this weekend.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 5) : Not sure, though I doubt it.
@McLovin (Comment 7) : he can probably come back, but I doubt he’ll get back in time to feature this weekend
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 6) : Thing is the backrow was already looking light weight. Maybe move Lobberts to no.7 and aim for a big lock. I can’t understand why Province are so reluctant to give Reniel Hugo a go.
@beet (Comment 9) : I hear you, I think at this stage of the season Lobberts is fit enough to slot in at flank, the issue is can Hugo play the Number4 role?
Lobberts isnt the softest bloke around.
Had to be Koster, the only good loosie out of the 3 that started.
Hopefully they give Carr a start, and put Kolisi in at nr. 8 (IMO the position he was made for).
