Injury concerns for Cheetahs

The Cheetahs have a few injury concerns as they prepare for their match against the Pumas this weekend. The Cheetahs let slip a lead of 14 points to let the Lions come back and draw a tough encounter on Saturday afternoon.

Coenie Oosthuizen looks to have hurt his neck, which could rule him out for anything from a week to the rest of the competition, and only scans today will confirm the timing of this.

Johan Goosen, winner of the September Currie Cup player of the month award, was stretchered off the park on the draw against the Lions following a clash of heads with Lions fullback Jaco Taute. Goosen has concussion and will undergo the tests to determine whether he can play on Saturday.

  • He looked pretty drunk to me on Saturday..isn’t there a 3 week compulsory break on concussion?

As for Coenie – could it be his scrumming technique that let him down? *waiting for Hendrikp to enter convo right about now*

Could be, but he’s still a freak around the park.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 4) : was it not his (miss) tackle that secured the Lions 1st try?

I forgive him  To be honest I haven’t watched any CC games the last 2 weeks. Been too busy with the WC, so when it hits midnight I’m a bit worn out on rugby.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 6) : I thought that JP du Plessis came thru with flying colours at Kingspark on Sat. If that was a once off audition for a permanent part at the Sharks starting in 2012, I think he showed enough to earn a role. Maybe not as an immediate starter but certainly as a viable backup at least to begin with.

Thanks. RF also gave a fair assessment on him. I only really know from what I’ve seen of him playing rugby league, and he showed plenty of skill, strength, speed etc.

Hopefully Province keep him around

  • The cheetahs didn’t let slip a 14 point lead. The mighty LIONS just decided that enough was enough, and changed gears. Knowing that province was going to beat the sharks, they decided not to score the 4th try, just to keep the last 2 weeks interesting

It’s a shame he didn’t get more of the ball..

But I admit that the kid has something. And he has a bit of pace.
