27 year old Pumas prop Dawie Steyn has signed a two year contract with the Blue Bulls, returning to his city of birth to run out in the blue of the Bulls for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
Steyn has been at the Pumas since 2008, but made no secret of the fact that signing for the Bulls has been a lifelong dream of his.
The deal was concluded by Blue Bulls SupeRugby coach Frans Ludeke, who has been impressed with Steyn for a few seasons now, saying that the prop has what it takes to play in the Blue Bulls front row.

Why, if you have all the best schoolboy and age group props running around in your ranks, do you want to sign this guy?
We bought Dawie Steyn because he made our front row look bad this year twice especially in the scrums.
Rossouw de klerk is not ready to make the step up chadwick made him look silly.
Conrne Fourie is on his way to the pumas.
Frik Kirsten is nearly done with his studies so he can concentrate in his rugby next year.
Then the highly rated Morne Mallet is out for the rest of the year.
Man oh man we will miss that gurthro steenkamp.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 1) :
It may be to replace Bees Roux??
@wpw (Comment 3) : if that’s the last time that particular name is mentioned on this thread, it will still be one time too many.
@robdylan (Comment 4) :
So you’ve got Dean Greyling, Corne Fourie, Morne Mellett and Juan Schoeman… but feel the need to raid other franchises.
Someone needs to sort out the Bulls. Like they’re paying players to come to Pretoria so they don’t have to play against them – giving them no game time whatsoever.
@hendrikp (Comment 6) :
Its disgusting!!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) :
Time for salary caps if you ask me.
The players need to stop actually flocking to Pretoria like its some rugby heaven.Wise up kids.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 9) :
Wouldn’t call this guy a kid, but you’re right.
If anything I’d be heading away from Pretoria. You’re more likely to get a shot in Cape Town, you’re assured to know where you stand if you’re in Bloemfontein & at the Lions you don’t have much competition really.
@hendrikp (Comment 10) :
Funny how you leave out the Sharks?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 11) :
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 11) :
I didn’t know where to fit them in hey?
Plumtree didn’t seem very willing to give the younger guys a decent go.
@hendrikp (Comment 13) :
I hear what you saying, yet he did give the youngsters a decent go:
Both Marais brothers
Sbura Sithole
Mark Richards
Gouws Prinsloo
Marcell Coetzee
Dale Chadwick
Monde Hadebe
Cobus Reinach
COME ON BOLAND
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 14) :
Fair enough. Not it went far enough… and I wouldn’t include guys like Reinach, Hadebe & Prinsloo who played almost no part.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 15) : Danwell Demas, bigod… when did THAT happen?
@robdylan (Comment 17) : Been there for a few weeks now, scored a brace against the kings in the last fixture.
I heard that Brad Mockford is moving to the Lions next season from the Leopards. He had a good game yesterday til he went off for 10!!
Sorry Bulls, maybe next year
