WP livewire lock Rynhardt Elstadt may be available for selection for Saturdays semi final clash with the Lions at Coca Cola park.

Elstadt who tore knee ligaments in this years SupeRugby campaign was expected to take no part in any ruygby this  year but has responded extremely well to his rehabilitation and took full part in training this week even running in the “probables” squad.Allister Coetzee must be a happy man as Hylton Lobberts suffered a shoulder injury during WP’s victory over the Pumas, an injury that would have greatly concerned the coach as Lobberts is the player who is looked upon to provide a bit of mongrel in the WP pack.

Demetri Catrakilis, JJ Engelbrecht and Brok Harris are other players who sat out training on Monday due to injury niggles but they are all expected to be fine for the semi final fixture.

DHL Western Province face the MTN Lions in the semi final fixture at 5pm Saturday at Coca Cola park Johannesburg.

  • @robdylan (Comment 2) : I’m still worried about the scrums.WP lost 3 scrum feeds on their own ball in the first half alone on Saturday.

I asked Allister about it and if he was concerned about that for the semi and all he said was we musn’t forget that that Pumas pack is very big and very good…..er coach, the Lions aren’t excactly propping with midgets.

Son of a …. sent the Springboks home 2 weeks early, ruining any chance of the Lions winning the Currie Cup.

I know and what made it worse was, after seeing Aus and NZ play we certainly would have been in with a very good chance too play in the final..

I see! Hopefully they stick with Kritzinger for the foreseeable future. When he’s fit he’s got to be better then Blaauw.

Probably, but I’ve told myself not to have sour grapes about it! We’d have had a much bigger shot at beating NZ then the Aussies did – they couldn’t even get out of their damn half for 160 minutes.

I was over it pretty much after the final whistle ..Iv had years of experience dealing with Rugby disappointments ..and this was no different ..was not to be.

I will however take huge issue if Ratface Bryce ever blows a Bok game again…

  • two more sharks going to the lions and they want to tell us that we are a cheetahs b team. Ek dink die leeus het vir hulle self twee wit olifante gekoop want hulle gaan hulle in elk geval so min gebruik soos die sharks, they are just degrading to a weaker team and smaller salary nothing will change for them they will be on the bench weak in and weak out if they make it in to the match 22 and they will probably play vodacom cup as well

  • The Cronje’s are no loss. Now Reinach will be next in line and actually get some gametime as opposed to sitting behind Cronje because of Cronje having seniority.

  • Why do the Lions want to buy another flyhalf.

Jantjes, Francis, James and now Cronje? makes no sense.

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 34) : I don’t think it’s a huge loss either, not because I don’t think the Cronje’s has potential to be good, but just because we haven’t and would probably not have used them here at the Sharks and as you said, now Cobus Reinach is next in line and I also think he has potential to be great, given a chance, which he has a better chance of getting now.

  • It seems like the Lions is the place to be these days if you’re a Michaelhouse old boy.

Cilliers, Rhodes, Combrink, de Bruyn. Now the Cronje twins.

I wonder if they’ve been in touch with our overlooked talented wing Mark Richards yet. :|

Hopefully we take extremely care of the best ever MHS player so that he stays put. Not only is he a really good player, he has the potential to become the captain in a year or 2.
