Former Sharks centre Riaan Swanepoel has moved on from French club Clermont and will play for Brive until the end of the French season.
Swanepoel, after only playing a bit part in the Sharks Super Rugby campaign in 2011, was released to join Clermont as a World Cup joker a few months back, essentially covering gaps in their squad caused by the loss of French players to the World Cup squad. The chunky number 12 has impressed sufficiently to be summoned to join Brive as cover for the injured Nicolas Jeanjean and will join up with former Sharks team-mate Scott Spedding, staying on until at least the end of the French season.
At least Swanepoel will find the jersey a familiar one, since Brive play in black and white, just like the Sharks! Good luck with the new move, Swannie – we hope it turns out well.
He is still too young to play centre for the Sharks…let him play in Europe for 5 years and then call him back.

@robdylan (Comment 16) : Spedding is a much better 15 than 10 but was tried at 10 for the Vodacom Side but excelled at 15 at club level and now overseas. Strange that not many loose forwards have left, especially considering how many SA produce.
