Round 4 wrap:
The Lions came out in this round and got 2 wins that do not mean much to them as far as the playoff are concerned but the Titans and Dolphins who lost to them felt it greatly as these losses mean the end of their hopes to still make it to the playoffs. These two teams started the round with yet another no result caused by the rain and then went on to lose the rest of their games with the win by the Knights over the Dolphins on Sunday basicly seeing them through to the playoffs and shutting out any chance the Dolphins and Titans had to still qualify.
In the mean time while the fight for that 3rd spot was on the go, the Cobras won their all important game against the Warriors to end up on top of the log at the end of round 4.
Lets take a look at what’s left to do:
Firstly the log as it stands now:
1 Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras. 28
2 Chevrolet Warriors. 25
3 Chevrolet Knights. 23
4 Sunfoil Dolphins. 16
5 bizhub Highveld Lions. 13
6 Nashua Titans. 11
And the last rounds fixtures:
30 Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras v Sunfoil Dolphins Sahara Park Newlands, Cape Town 15:00
30 bizhub Highveld Lions v Chevrolet Knights Bidvest Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg 15:00
30 Nashua Titans v Chevrolet Warriors SuperSport Park, Centurion 15:00
Only the order of the 3 top teams can alter after these games will be played, a win for each top 3 teams will leave the log looking the same as now. A loss by the Cobras and win by the Warriors could still see the Warriors advanced to the top of the log. And a loss by the Warriors and a win by the Knights could see the Knights end up 2nd on the log. The top team advance straight to the final while the 2nd team hosts the 3rd placed team in a semi final.
With the few remaining games to be played a change or two can still happen on our Superbru log but here’s the top 5 as it stand after the 4 completed rounds:
1 LouisV
2 Benna08
3 Prishern
4 maritzburgshark
5 BLOU BLOU BUL
Well done to you guys and good luck with the next round and the finals.

MN van Wyk 9 inings @ an avarage of 42.00. 363 runs
(Knights)
D Smit 5 inings @ an avarage of 80.75. 397 runs
(Dolphins)

Good morning! Thanks a lot for the weekly updates…enjoy your day! Well done to the batsmen and bowlers! What happens if the Dolphins win?

Darren Smit knocking on that door. Also show JP Duminy not in any version of the Protea cricket a sin and Langes still top quality.
@Anneleen (Comment 1) : they get to watch the finals from their living rooms, unfortunately they can only got 5 points from the game and that’s not enough to qualify for the playoffs….
@Franshark (Comment 3) : They’ll spoil the Kobras party, make no mistake.
@PaarlBok (Comment 4) : @Anneleen (Comment 1) : My Highveld lions side disappointed me again.
But i believe we have the best wicketkeeper batsmen in fact a prodigy in 18 year old schoolboy Quinton De Kick what a player.
He looks the business a calss act.
Forget Darryn Smit De Kock is a gem.
@PaarlBok (Comment 2) :
As much as I am a HUGE fan of JP Duminy, his test batting average is around 28 runs per innings at the moment.
Ashwill Prince averages over 43 runs per innings at the moment.
It’s a no brainer I’m afraid.
@PaarlBok (Comment 4) : fore sure
, and I hope they still win…
@wpw (Comment 6) : don’t agree with you, JP bring so much more to the game than Prince and he is younger and should be given a better chance…
@Franshark (Comment 8) : JP is in excellent form since the start of the season. Add his left arm spin and fielding and Prince dont come close to him as a cricketer. JP destroyed the Aussies in Australia and a pitty they did not picked him against them.
@PaarlBok (Comment 9) : Where on earth is Stiaan Van Zyl.
He has gone abit quiet
@Muzi (Comment 10) : Havent heard of him for ages. Kobras is packed with international players at the moment.
By the way Boland U13 A & B teams beat WP A & B teams on the weekend at Paarl Gym. My laaitie plays for KleinGims U13A team and they are very strong, 5 Boland players included. Cricket structure is pretty strong and healthy in Boland at the moment from the bottom to the top.
@Muzi (Comment 5) : Thanks for your reply…better luck for our respective teams next year…i hope so! Enjoy watching the remaining games…
@Franshark (Comment 3) : Thanks for the information…shame for the Dolphins…it rained on their parade…but it is good to be a Shark and a Dolphin supporter…good luck with your Superbru picks!
@Anneleen (Comment 13) : same for you, I truly fell from the wagon
still love it..
That’s the spirit…no fear, there are still some Superbru rounds left…you will catch up with the wagon and steer it onto the winning path! Good luck!
@Muzi (Comment 5) :
hahah . you have a thing for young boys i see
no he is looking good . the lions side needs some work . i dont know why we suffer . we have such potential . think they in the same spot as where the rugby guys where …
Oupa Neil McKenzie still hanging around, I wonder if he knows Terreblance
@Mutley (Comment 17) :
still doing well at the Level … we need an experience hand . think we need an experienced bowler as well
@Zibbie (Comment 18) : Zibbie al iets gehoor oor Walter?
It really is interesting to compare the Stormers to the Cape Cobras in terms of performance and success. While both are excellent teams, the Cobras have two important qualities which makes them champions. First, they are able to hold on to their young talent while retaining the veterans, and second, they have achieved a winning mindset which proofs them against mental weakness. The Stormers should learn from the example set by their cricket counterparts.
Anyway the Cobras are eating Japanese style tomorrow, Dolphin soup for everyone!
@Leviathan (Comment 20) : We lost Kallis , Boucher to EP Warriors. Also think the International cricketers dont play that much for their province like rugby. Kirsten changed that now.
@PaarlBok
yeah, but Kallis and Boucher are back now, and we’ve always had a decent core of older players to guide the younger ones. Anyway, having our internationals back is just going to make things better for us. It will encourage the younger players to play harder to retain their positions, and it gives us depth in case of injury or poor form. I just wish Pybus would give Rippon a game at some point, maybe in place of Louw. We have enough pace as it is.
@Leviathan (Comment 20) : The main thing that distinguishes Cobras from the Stormers is a world class coach.
Hey hey
just checked and saw they are showing the Cobras vs Dolphins game tomorrow night, and my wife has plans to go out with the neighbor’s wife… Hehehe!! Now for the weather to play its part and I’ll be watching some cricket come tomorrow night
@PaarlBok (Comment 19) :
Hy het op sy gesig blad gesê hy gaan daarna kyk . so hy is bewus van die probleem
Go Dolphins…!!
Forecast rain, Dolphins bring rain, should send them to Namakwaland!
Sun is out , bring on those Dolfyne!
Bring on the Sunfoil Dolphins!
@Anneleen (Comment 29) : Fried or grilled?

@PaarlBok (Comment 37) : Baie dankie vir die verslae…!
@Anneleen (Comment 40) : Ja ek gaan nou self op TV kyk.
Zondo is a friend of mine. He was in my junior primary school, primary school and high school. Used to play club cricket with him as well.
Aah those were the days. We all used to be play U14 but we were 15 years old. Pitch up at Engen garage at Springfield road on a Sunday Morning. Used to come in dribs and drabs because we over slept the night before. We were always short of players. So we we used to recruit the Garden boy and his son. Zondos brother who was like 7, also joined us.
It used to be so funny. We were like a 2 man team. Zondo and his friend then the rest of us.
I was rever really good at cricket. So once they asked me to Bowl. Took 4 wickets the first over. My team mates were calling me the next big thing. I then proceeded to bowl 6 wides the next over. That was the end of my bowling career.
Anyway let’s hope Zondo makes his 50.
@Mocho (Comment 42) : great stuff, good memories
Dolphins 185 (47.2 ov)
Lions 250 (48.2 ov)
Warriors 294/6 (50 ov)
Disappointing by the dolphins
@Franshark (Comment 43) : Those were fun days. There’s a 20/20 league in Durban. You make your own team and play. Planning to submit a team next year.
Think the Dolphins are in a development stage at the moment. Blooding a few youngsters. Thay need a new captain.
@Mocho (Comment 48) : The Dolphins are always in a development stage. They always blood the youngsters just to lose them to the bigger unions. Sad but true.
Dolphins 185 (47.2 ov); Cape Cobras 186/2 (29 ov)
Cape Cobras won by 8 wickets (with 126 balls remaining)
Warriors 294/6 (50 ov); Titans 298/6 (48.4 ov)
Titans won by 4 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
Lions 250 (48.2 ov); Knights 254/9 (49.5 ov)
Knights won by 1 wicket (with 1 ball remaining)
Great stuff from that man Kallizzz. So the Warriors needs to travel to Osfontein and the winner have to come to Newlands.
Final log:

1 Cape Cobras 10 7 1 0 33
2 Knights 10 6 4 0 27

Good morning, glad to have the cricket until the rugby starts…well done Dolphins, for being placed 4th. And to the remaining teams, best of luck to you all!
Hallow there anyone
semi final being played today…..
Knights 280/5 in their 50 overs against the Warriors….
Knights 280/5 (50 ov); Warriors 282/6 (49 ov)
Warriors won by 4 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)
Damn that Knights loss cost me badly on Superbru..
Some nice cricket weather. Only a Protea choke can stop the Kobras adding some silverware to a chock and block cupboard. Wish I could go watch this. Budget dont allow three days in a row oxwagon drive to Slaapstad UCT area.
Good morning! Enjoy the games…go Cobras…!!!
How about virender sehwag smacking 219 vs windies in the one day game??
@bergshark (Comment 61) : I hate watching cricket playing on a cementblok. Unfair to the bowlers. Give me a tight low scoring one day game anyday.
@PaarlBok: then the batsmen would complain, oom
