Western Force coach Richard Graham has announced his captain for the Super Rugby tournament, with flanker David Pocock taking over from previous captain Nathan Sharpe.
Pocock, who is only 23 years old, could build up a big career and prove himself as potential Australian captain, with Sharpe still in the mix being able to assist the young captain in his growth.
In other Australian news, Rocky Elsom has been announced as captain of the NSW Waratahs franchise, taking over from the retired Phil Waugh. Dan Vickerman was also considered for the position, but Elsom’s previous experience in leading the Australian team got him the nod.
Elsom was replaced by James Horwill as Australian captain for the World Cup, after Elsom was seen as not being good in the media, but is seen as a fantastinc ‘on-field’ leader.

Does anyone have a full list of captains for all the teams?
Strauss – Lions
Daniel – Sharks
Spies – Bulle
@JarsonX (Comment 1) :
Conrad Smith – Hurricanes
Richie McCaw – Crusaders
Adam Thomson – Highlanders (I think)
Keven Mealamu – Blues
Liam Messam & Craig Clarke – Chiefs co-captains, weird yes.
@Zibbie (Comment 2) :
Burger – Stormers
Juan Smith or Adriaan Strauss (depending on fitness of Juan?) at Cheetahs.
Rocky Elsom – Waratahs
Stirling Mortlock – Rebels (odd choice considering he’s again injured I think)
James Horwill – Reds
David Pocock – Western Force
And not sure who the Brumbies captain is or will be. If I had to have a guess, probably Stephen Moore.
Great stuff, thanks.
Jamie Mackintosh still the clan leader at the Highlanders?
@JarsonX (Comment 6) : FL team selections?
I didn’t think Pocock was still so young, he’s going to be around for a while
