The Cheetahs outfit to take on the Bulls this weekend has been announced, with a host of changes from the team that beat the Stormers second string team at Newlands last weekend.

Prop Trevor Nyakane, flank Ashley Johnson, centre Philip Snyman, wing Rayno Benjamin and fullback Willie le Roux have all come into the starting line up.

Willie le Roux impressed coaches with his contribution off the bench in the Stormers game, and is rewarded with a start over Hennie Daniller.

Cheetahs:

15 Willie le Roux, 14 Rayno Benjamin, 13 Robert Ebersohn, 12 Philip Snyman, 11 Rocco Jansen, 10 Johan Goosen, 9 Pieter van Zyl, 8 Davon Raubenheimer, 7 Ashley Johnson, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Izak van der Westhuizen, 4 Andries Ferreira, 3 WP Nel, 2 Adriaan Strauss (captain), 1 Trevor Nyakane.

Substitutes: TBA

  • Superugby referees for first 6 weeks announced. Coincidence that Bryce Lawrence will not referee a SA team?

  • Willie le Roux, Boland Maties Paul Roos…very good distributor-breaks the line with freakishles effort…not to much pace but creates a lot of tries…Good Full Back and a Handy Flyhalf(the sharks also hade a look at him) he had options in Bulls Sharks and Cheethas and went to the Cheethas for more Game time…don’t be surprized if the Cheethas have 2 rookies of the year in Goosen and le Roux…

  • @BoerSeun (Comment 3) : Thanks for the info. Looking forward to seeing him play. I’m very excited for Bok and Sharks rugby this year!

Lots of young talent coming through and hopefully we can add an attacking backline to our traditional strengths of strong scrums, good lineouts and a big, aggressive pack.

We need to create our own tries, not kick and hope like we have with Steyn at flyhalf.
