The Sharks can report clear bill of health after the weekend’s loss to the Stormers, with no injuries sustained. More good news is the progress of the injured players, as they creep closer to full fitness.
Most notably, Willem Alberts is likely to be involved in the match against the Lions this weekend, after being declared medically fit to play last weekend, and having the full week to train this week, we should see the Bone Collector back in the Black and White at the Tank this weekend.
Both Tim Whitehead and Odwa Ndungane will train on Tuesday and will come into the selection picture ahead of the clash with the Lions. One gets the feeling the Ndungane will come straight into the side for Louis Ludik, who has not impressed on the wing. Whether Whitehead takes the 12 jersey back from Bosman immediately remains to be seen.
Jean Deysel and Conrad Hoffmann are both on the mend and could see action within the next three to four weeks, and it will be interesting to see which of them gets the nod to tour with the squad in two weeks time.
As for the longer term injuries, Ryan Kankowski’s hand operation went well while Al Hargreaves will be in a moon boot for at least another two to three weeks. Tendai ‘The Beast” Mtawarira is out of the moon boot and is recovering well, while Julian Redelinghuys is doing well and going for hyperbaric treatment.Tweet
