Round three of the Super Rugby campaign has come and gone, with more casualties and bad results following on from the first two weekends. Head on over to www.justrugby.net to see where you finished up after the round.

The scoring took a bit of a dip again this weekend, with only 360-25 points required for the MVP bonus, with Sharks United getting there in style, snagging the extra 50 points and ending the weekend on 410-75. Second place went to SuperSub, who managed 354-25 points for the weekend. The rest of the top five is made up of JJR XV (345-50 points), Kompas Cowboys (330-75 points) and pahlad (329-25 points).

Super Bulls managed to hold onto that top spot on the overall log, still holding a 52 point lead over now second placed Groot Leeu, who after being the first round leader, is back in second after dropping to fourth last weekend. Last week’s second placed team, Janoboys Lions drops to fourth, with Kompas Cowboys’ good round forcing him into third. Dream XV rounds off the top five team overall.

Onto the point scorers, we have a hattrick try scorer in TJ Perenara making good ground for any team who had him, with 42 points in total. Gareth Anscombe, after scoring all his team’s points against the Bulls on Saturday, ending on 32 points. Joint third goes to Jason Eaton and Christian Lealiifano, each managing 22 points. Andre Taylor sneaks into fifth spot, with 20 points.

Overall, Beauden Barrett took the lead to himself after sharing it in a three way split last weekend, moving to 61 points. TJ Perenara, with an amazing haul of 42 points this weekend, moves into joint second on 51 points, sharing the second spot on the podium with Reds pivot Michael Harris. Tyler Blyendaal keeps fourth spot to himself on 48 points, with Morne Steyn dropping to fifth after having the joint lead last weekend, scoring only three points against the Blues.

Over on Last Man Standing, 11 players lost lifelines (myself included), with 15 more people coming to the end of the road in this competition. There are now 61 teams with lifelines and 45 who are holding on without that valuable lifeline. 69 are dead!

On the SuperBru standings, Antoon007 has kept the lead at the top of the board, with Monster still snapping at his heels. Di Boffen comes from nowhere to take over third spot. Chaz moves up into fourth spot while the top five is completed by Beet, who was an early leader.

The top of the log looks like this:

Antoon007 – 23-25
Monster – 20-83
Di Boffen – 20-50
Chaz – 19-75
Beet – 19-75
Seabull – 19-50
Bertram – 19-50
The Boom – 19-50
Die Kriek – 19-25

Until next week, good luck with the next round, remember to update those starting fifteens and get your LMS pick in, in time.

  • I came 8th for FL and survived LMS. Gives me hope, although with so many byes this weekend it’s going to be interesting.

  • I moved up a few positions in FL despite forgetting to change my team before last Friday. Even had two or three Stormers players in my starting XV in spite of theme being on a bye

  • @vanmartin (Comment 2) : I luckily avoided doing that. Had panic stations when checking the teams this week and worked out Lions, Bulls and Crusaders all have a bye :|

  • Here we go again: 8 (2 injured) players on a bye and 1 injury gives me 19 starting players and 2 bench warmers. If things go my way, I might get 14 starting wins, the other guy is in an opposing team
