Ioane cited for tackle

According to reports on a number of websites today, Reds winger Digby Ioane has been cited for the illegal tackle on Marcell Coetzee that saw him yellow-carded at Kings Park yesterday.

Many watching the game felt that the decision to award just a yellow for that tackle was ludicrous, with the lifting-and-driving spear tackle checking all the right boxes to warrant an immediate red card. There has been no official word from SANZAR yet, but unofficial sources indicate that the citing commissioner concurred with the consensus of everyone other than the assistant ref who saw it happen right in front of him!

We expect to hear more early next week, but the assumption is that Ioane will receive a lengthy ban.

  • @Die Kriek (Comment 3) : He might need to be traded depending on the length of him ban. He has a history so they might not be so kind to him.
