Sharksworld – I need your help

Let me start off by saying that I think I’m generally pretty good at separating my personal wants and needs from the goings on at Sharksworld, tempting though it may be to use and abuse this patient and committed audience of thousands for my own devilish needs… All that is about to change, though, albeit temporarily.

Ok, so now that I’ve intrigued you all enough to convince you to read further, let me cut to the chase. As many of you will know, I’ve recently started to dabble in a spot of running; I don’t just mean leaving the kitchen in a hurry every time the wife mentions the dishes that need washing, of course, but actually getting out there and pounding the pavements of my hilly home town in the desperate hope that it will make me fitter, thinner, calmer and generally less suicidal about the Sharks when they do lose. I think I’ve succeeded in the first goal, at least, although the others remain elusive… that fourth one in particular is proving a real bitch!

Anyway, I’m running a 10k race on 15 April, along with a group of like-minded parents, with the goal of raising £1500 for my daughter’s school. I realise that it’s a pretty selfish thing to ask, given that I’m sure many of you have your own children, whose schools also need sponsorship, but if there’s anyone out there who would be kind enough to spare a hundred bucks or so (that’s in Rond terms, of course) it would be muchly appreciated.

The link where you can make a donation is here: http://www.charitygiving.co.uk/ptarunners. They do accept payments via PayPal, so hopefully pledging money from abroad shouldn’t present too many obstacles.

Thanks again for taking the time, Sharksworld…. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate every one of you. Even the ones who argue with me!

  • Rob, I’ve never envied your job as SW owner and administrator. Some of the stuff you need to deal with on a daily basis remind me of a lot of my dad’s endeavours as a pastor in his mid-sized church. I’ve never met anyone who works harder than my dad but I suspect you come close. Seeing as you go above and beyond the call of duty so often on this site I’d be happy to contribute. I can’t give much but I hope it makes a difference!

  • All these babies I’m getting broody, luckily I closed the factory with the unexpected arrival of No3 or there would be another “accident” on purpose arriving!

Congratulations to all the lucky parents to be!

  • @lostfish (Comment 17) : NO, its what makes me thank my wisdom that I had the procedure done :)
@lostfish (Comment 16) :  My last two are 18 months apart, so been through it, nice thing though now that they are out of nappies, can swim and can sort a sammie out they have proved to be a lot less work than the older one who never had anyone to play with and was always bored, these two entertain each other and generally look after each other at school. – Well that is when they are not killing each other

  • Wow even as a Lions supporter who no longer blogs I have to concur Sharksworld is an awesome and well run site. You have touched my heart – maybe its the Currie Cup hiding last year or perhaps the thought that I will be a grandpa to twins in August but I will sign in and send you a few hundred rand. Good luck with the run Rob.
