The Cheetahs team to face the Chiefs this Saturday has been announced, and follow from the previously reported news that Sias Ebersohn will start at flyhalf ahead of Johan Goosen, who is nursing a bit of an injury.

Goosen has been passed fit to play off the bench though, but it remains to be seen whether he gets any game time, so as to not aggravate the injury any further.

Justin Downey returns to the starting team with Ashley Johnson dropping to the bench, and will again be used as an impact player later in the game. News that Johnson is moving to Wasps later in the year will mean a lot more game time for the ex-Sharks flanker Downey.

Cheetahs: Hennie Daniller, Ryno Benjamin, Robert Ebersohn, Andries Strauss, Willie le Roux, Sias Ebersohn, Piet van Zyl, Philip van der Walt, Justin Downey, Heinrich Brussow, Izak van der Westhuizen, George Earle, WP Nel, Adriaan Strauss (Capt), Coenie Oosthuizen.

Reserves: Hercu Liebenberg, Trevor Nyakane, Andries Ferreira, Ashley Johnson, Tewis de Bruyn, Johan Goosen, Philip Snyman.

  • @SheldonK (Comment 2) :

Outside of being a very weak defender, I’d agree.

Not sure they’d invest that sort of money though in the twins. The whole package deal thing might well be holding them both back.

Besides, Swiel might well be playing Currie Cup rugby by the end of this year. Grant probably heading back to Japan and all…
