Round 8 of Super Rugby sees one tough weekend of rugby matches, which does play into your hands as a punter, as the return for being on target is much greater. Head on over to the Marshalls World of Sport website and have a look at the following games:

The big game for us Sharks supporters is first up this weekend, with the boys in black and white taking on the Blues, and having a fair return put on their head as a result of the loss last weekend.

Blues – 8/10
Sharks – 12/10

If you are brave enough to select the Blues to win by between 1 and 5 points, you can get a return as big as 24/10.

The second Friday game is an Australian derby, which I think can go either way. The Force are at home to the Waratahs, and I will not put it past the Force to pull off a victory over their Aussie counterparts this weekend.

Force – 12/10
Waratahs – 8/10

Waratahs by 0 to 6 points – 24/10

Our Saturday morning viewing starts with what should be a cracking game between the back at home Crusaders and the fresh off an away victory Stormers. Both teams will give this match everything, and if you are in the Stormers boat and believe they can pull off a second tour victory, you can make yourself a nice bit of money.

Crusaders – 7/10
Stormers – 14/10

Another Australian derby sees the Brumbies host the Rebels, yet another game where I think the underdog has a fair chance to pull off a victory. The Brumbies might be top of the Australian log at the moment, but the Rebels have shown some very good form over the last few weekends, and I will back them to put away the Brumbies.

Brumbies – 4/10
Rebels – 2/1

Onto the local fixtures for the weekend, the high flying Cheetahs host the even higher flying Chiefs in Bloemfontein, and we seem to have a list of fixtures that can all go either way. I always support the local teams though, especially at home, so a Cheetahs victory, a third on the trot, should be on the cards.

Cheetahs – 1/1
Chiefs – 9/10

The final game of the weekend is probably the easiest to call, but will probably surprise us and go down to the wire. The Bulls take on the Lions in Johannesburg, and after a pretty poor performance against the Cheetahs last weekend, everybody and their cat is writing off the Lions for this match. My gut feel is that nothing is set in stone, and it might be closer than we all think.

Lions – 7/2
Bulls – 3/10

  • Some worthwhile bets to look at this weekend.

Personally, I am taking a little double:

Force to beat the Tahs and
    Stormers to beat the Saders

    Gets me a nice 4/1

Im pretty much even at this stage..

I’m pretty selective what I go for on a weekend, and certain upsets have gone my way.. other certainties have lost me money..

I’ll start documenting my successes or failings..
