  • Callie Visagie, Pat Cilliers, Willie le Roux and Piet van Zyl are names that I would not have guessed to be invited to a Springbok camp..

It seems a little silly, but his thinking is sound. He wants to instil a rugby way amongst all South African players, whether they are playing for the Boks or not..

    Johan Goosen

I think you may be right.

I wonder if Daniller stands a chance. Solid player in the Heyneke mould.

Pretty much similar to Johan Roets and Zane Kirchner.

Surely if Daniller stands a chance, Riaan Viljoen stands a chance?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Joe Pietersen at fullback for the Boks.. backup kicker and solid under the high ball..

I’m not convinced Josh will make it, to be honest..

He is a fantastic Currie Cup and Super Rugby player, but I think he is behind too many quality loose forwards:

    Willem Alberts
    Heinrich Brussow
    Schalk Burger
    Marcell Coetzee
    Siya Kolisi
Dewald Potgieter (Bulls connection with Meyer)

I hope for your sake I am wrong…as I have heard you APPARENTLY do get the very very odd exception to the rule….but so far twice, I was not wrong, nor had the pleasure of that very good baby keeping the very good sleeping pattern!

AN Other: But Heyneke, we’re anyway only going to pick players from the Bulls and the Stormers, so why bother with the udder camps?
Heyneke: Its for the eyeblind stupit. Everyfing in SA is about the blerrie eyeblind.
AN Other: Well then maybe we should get the kak teams out the way first… and finish with the real contenders?

  • Really? Are people actually reading anything into the players called up? Meyer is just gathering together the players he can to put forward his ideas/expectations/selection policy and to get some of the players views. So lets not be silly and jump to any conclusions. The only thing I take from this is that Meyer has a plan and is looking for the players to give input and buy into it which is a good thing. As for whose there…wouldnt surprise me if Ashwin Willemse put his boots on!

  • @BigFish, of course ;-) But, genuinely he is a very good player, not that abrasive but with tons of skill. Great in the lineout at the back, tackles like a man pocessed and brilliant at distributing the ball when on the run. Only problem, he does not fit the 115kg flank type that Heineke likes eg Alberts
