Former Stormers and Western Province centre Jaque Fourie, has ruled himself out of any further Springbok appearances, or at least for the next two seasons.

Die Burger newspaper has reported that Fourie himself made this information available through his agent’s online magazine, unionsportsmag.co.za.

Fourie was quoted as saying that there are more than enough good centres in South Africa at the moment, and that his boots will be filled with the necessary talent.

Fourie has played 69 tests for the Springboks, scoring 32 tries in the process.

  • So clearly he doesn’t have a contract with the Boks anymore then. This is good. I don’t want any player that is overseas to be selected for the Boks. Doesn’t matter WHO it is.

Even though Fourie would certainly have added value to the team. I’m sure we will be able to cope fine without him. Enjoy the Sushi Jaque!

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 10) : Really don’t see why he had to go to Japan. He should have stayed in SA until the next World Cup and helped us win back the WWE.

THEN he could have gone overseas to fill his own pocket. He showed SA the finger so he can have that finger right back.

  • Maybe this will open up the way for JPP to start at 13. Currently JDJ is looking brilliant.

It would have been nice to have JF, but we’ve got the talent in SA to do well.

  • JP Pietersen should move back to wing. Unless ya’ll want Basson at 14 for the Boks??

    15 – Lambie
    14 – JPP
    13 – De Jongh
    12 – Frans
    11 – Habana/Mvovo
    10 – Steyn
    9 – FDP/Hougaard

Habana and Mvovo are great at wing.

You just want another Stormer in the Bok team.

  • @Ben (Comment 20) :
No doubt. Im saying you can have them both on the wings and JP at 13 if you wanted.

But Im not punting JP for the Bok 13 – yet. He can be back-up to de Jongh, but start the game at wing.

  • @Big Fish (Comment 21) : I hope de Jong gets selected as 1st choice 13. Look forward to seeing what he will be able to do against England. Chance for him to make the Bok 13 jersey his own.
