The Sharks came through their match against the Chiefs reasonably well, and will look forward to the break as they enjoy a bye this weekend, while there is good news on the horizon in terms of injuries clearing up.
The biggest hit of the weekend was on Lwazi Mvovo’s nose, with Sharksrugby.co.za confirming that he sustained a fracture and a bit of concussion, but should be ready to face the Highlanders in two weeks’ time. Other injuries incurred during the match sees Jannie du Plessis struggling with a SC (sternoclavicular) joint injury, but should still be available for the next match. Louis Ludik also took a knock, but should be okay.
Willem Alberts came off at half time in the Chiefs match, which coach John Plumtree confirmed was as a result of his shoulder hurting, but will also be ready to take on the Highlanders in a fortnight’s time.
Of the players currently on the injury list, Beast Mtawarira made it through 55 minutes of Vodacom Cup rugby, and will be travelling with the team again this weekend to face the Pampas XV. Ryan Kankowski might also travel with the Sharks XV, and should he come through that match unscathed, we could well see both return for the Sharks in some way against the Highlanders.
Ross Skeate is still 6-8 weeks away from returning to the playing field, meaning he will only be available to the Sharks after the break for the Internationals.Tweet
