The Brumbies may have beaten the Waratahs yesterday to stretch even further their lead in the Australian conference, but news has filtered through that they have lost their star playmaker for the season.
SuperXV.com reports that Christian Lealiifano has broken his ankle and will miss the remainder of the Super Rugby season, a massive blow for Jake White and his young team, who are already struggling with their goal kicking duties.
It remains to be seen who exactly will fill the boots of Lealiifano, as Matt Toomua is also currently injured, and he would have been the second in line.

who’d want to be an Aussie flyhalf? They’ve lost just about every single one already…
@robdylan (Comment 1) :
Yeah..
Kurtley Beale to play there in the Internationals, me thinks!
No Worries. JW will pluck some guy from the obscurity of varsity rugby somewhere and show the world the guy is a star.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 3) :
Good luck to them, we won’t face them again, so we don’t have to worry..
@KSA Shark © (Comment 3) :
But I do get your point..
The coach will have an idea in his head, and put it into action in such a way that his team reaps rewards..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 4) : Actually, there is a very good chance we will meet the Brumbies again.
If we sneak into 6th place (as we did last year) we will come up against the 3rd placed conference winning team. Which is most definitely going to be the winner of the Aus conference this year and probably the Brumbies…
An away trip to Canberra may very well be on the cards.
Truth be told I`d rather face the Brumbies in Canberra than the Crusers in Christchurch!
But how do we sneak into 6th position? Hope the Highlanders lose everything from now on?
@siorc (Comment 6) :
Sharks won’t sneak into 6th this year..
I’ve actually thought about that.. I just won’t happen..
@Original Pierre (Comment 7) : Wait a few days and you will find the mathematical answers to that question all over the web
@KSA Shark © (Comment 9) :
Quade ‘longfingers’ Cooper will be back anyday now
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 8) : Highlanders fly back to NZ and play a resurgent Hurricanes team next weekend, themselves with designs on the top 6. They play the Bulls the following weekend. Then the Blues (who are bound to win a game at some stage, and who have beaten the Highlanders in 8 of their last 10 encounters) and then the Crusaders….
Whilst the Sharks have the Force, Cheetahs, Lions and Stormers.
Expect the Sharks to overtake the Highlanders within the next month, but watch out for the Hurricanes breathing down our necks…
