The Blues have decided to advertise for a new head coach for the 2013 season, as current coach Pat Lam’s contract expires at the end of the 2012 Super Rugby campaign.
The Blues are currently in last spot on the log with only one win to their name, and this from their first ten matches of the season so far. They are bound to pick up another victory this weekend when they host the Lions in Auckland, but whatever happens for the remainder of the season, the campaign will be seen as a failure.
Lam will be allowed to apply for the position, along with every other coach interested in taking charge of the Blues next season, and a decision will be made in the next few months as to who will take charge next season.
Lam will thus not be fired, as his contract does in fact expire at the end of the season, but should he wish to continue in his current role, he will have to apply and be chosen from all candidates interested in the position.

There are players in that Blues team that think they are untouchable. Unfortunately they are seniors in that team and the other guys follow their lead. I would have dropped Ranger, Nonu and Williams sometime ago.
@Silky (Comment 1) : Yeah, NONU seems to be a divisive force in NZ first at the Hurricanes now at the Blues, maybe leaving him out of the ABs might cure his ego somewhat!
