Scott Higginbotham is in the centre of a rumour linking him in a move to the Melbourne Rebels next season.
The Rebels need to replace their captain, Gareth Delve, ahead of next season as the Welshman is off to join Toulon in France.
Higginbotham is believed to be unhappy with the current state of affairs in Australia, where a salary cap is in place for four of the five Australian franchises, all except the Rebels.
The current salary cap is under dispute, and should an agreement not be reached, the cap of this year will apply, which is just over four million Australian Dollar. This cap is in place to prevent one franchise from having too many top players on their books, which spreads the talent even thinner across the five franchises.
The Rebels have confirmed that they are interested in Higginbotham as a player, but have not yet made him an offer.Tweet
