Gerrie Britz, a 13 test Bok and former Free State and Western Province player has called time on his rugby career, following a mammoth 111 matched for French team Perpignan.

Volksblad reports that Britz’s contract with the French club has come to an end, and will not seek a spot at a South African province, saying that he would not be able to keep up with the younger generation.

Britz will return to his farm in Ficksburg, where he will focus on his cattle.

Britz played his first test for the Boks in 2004 against Ireland, under the Jake White era, and completed his stint with the Green and Gold in 2007, when a so called B team was sent to Australia and New Zealand to compete in the Tri Nations before the more important World Cup, where he played against the All Blacks in Chrsitchurch.

  • Good player! Wish we’d kept him around a bit longer. He disappeared just as he was starting to play well.
