Cheetahs fullback Henne Daniller has broken thumb against the Waratahs, according to Jóhann Thormählen of Beeld and is unlikely to play any further part in his side’s 2012 Super Rugby campaign as a result.
According to a specialist consulted yesterday, the big Daniller will face a race against time to be passed fit for his side’s final outing of the season, against the Sharks at Kings Park on 14 July. He will definitely not be in contention for the derbies against the Bulls and Stormers that precede that game.
From a Sharks perspective, anything that weakens the Cheetahs ahead those matches is a blow, since the Durbanites will secretly be hoping that Naka Drotkse and his charges will be able to pull off an unlikely win against at least one of the sides currently blocking the former’s path to a higher position on the SA conference log.
