After a bit of a false start earlier today on Twitter, Stormers fullback Joe Pietersen has now been confirmed as a late call-up to the Boks squad ahead of Saturday’s third test against England.
The former Grey College pupil join up with the Boks tomorrow in Port Elizabeth and his elevation to the squad is just reward for a great Super Rugby campaign with the Cape side, after returning from a stint in France.
Pietersen has officially been called up in place of Frans Steyn; in other words, Pat Lambie has yet to be ruled out of contention for this weekend’s game, despite doubt over his injured ankle. According to SARU, a decision will be taken on Wednesday as to whether Lambie and injured team mate Willem Alberts will be considered for the test.
No other replacements are expected to be called up at this stage.

@wpw (Comment 5) : Stop acting like you came up with some massive scoop, Wes. All you did was read it on Twitter.
I also saw it, then opted to check it and couldn’t get confirmation. Hence not publishing it.
I didn’t make as if I did Rob. You chose not to use the info and that’s your right.
I think you’ve written many scoops in the past with even less info which turned out to be untrue.
@wpw (Comment 7) : well at least I’m writing something, matey, rather than sitting on the sidelines criticising.
And by “sidelines” I mean hair salon.
@wpw (Comment 7) : tl tl tl
this hair “envy” is really unbecoming
@wpw (Comment 7) :
Those who cant do, criticise.
