Just a while ago the Highlanders did just enough to place destiny back into the hands of the Sharks. While it would have been better had they clawed their way through the persistent Reds defense in the dying moments of the match, keeping the Reds away from that all important bonus point made 10 more log points enough for a certain top 6 finish for the Sharks. While we would have loved to see one of those blue jerseys slip through the desperate Reds defence, it was not to be and the Sharks will now have the very difficult task of scoring 4 tries against the Bulls when they meet at Kings Park tonight.
There is still a few what ifs and only ifs ahead of us. Like if only, the biggest if only, we won against the Lions, or just scored one more try against them, which would have given us 2 more log points. If only the Chiefs managed to win against the Crusaders and what if the Waratahs can put in one or two more great performances and deny the Brumbies any log points and keep the Reds away from a bonus point next week? That would mean the Reds will end on 58 as well as the Brumbies if they don’t manage any bonus points in their last game against the Reds, which would mean 9 points may be enough for the Sharks. The Hurricanes could also only get 58 and with their final match being a little tougher than the rest and their Points Difference only 10 points better than ours, it’s still very possible that 9 points will be enough to slip past them on the log. But …
The Sharks will have to consider the fact that getting anything less than 5 points this week will mean that one of the above mentioned results will have to go our way for us to have a shot at playing for the trophy this year. Furthermore, if we do get the 5 pointer this week, and I know it’s a huge ask, it could possibly happen that we go into the next weeks game knowing that 4 log points will be enough, a much better situation than going into next week’s game, knowing that the Reds scored 4 tries and have already done enough that our game against the Cheetahs will be for nothing, but … pride I suppose? Not that playing your final game knowing that you will not even make the top 6 is anything to be proud about, not even if you win by the biggest margin.
So here’s what we need. We need the Sharks to again play their best rugby in the last two weeks. We need two outstandingly brilliant performances that blows away one of our biggest rivals and another of our biggest local competitors, but we do not need them to only do that, because lets face it, winning only two more games won’t be enough for any Sharks fan and I know they say you’re not supposed to look ahead of the next game, but I’m going to need the Sharks to do that, to realise that if or when they deliver these two performances that it is not the end, and that I will expect them to win two more games, against whoever may come up against us and then go out and give everything they got in the final. Getting 9 points won’t be good enough, getting 10 points will leave us ending as a middle of the table 2012 team and will be unacceptable. Getting 5 wins. That’s what we need. Am I expecting too much. No. I’m expecting way too much, but that’s what it means to be a supporter.
Let’s go Sharks. It’s all or nothing now.

We all want that and we all believe they can do it. As we all know there is not nearly any other team that can be as dangerous as a Sharks team with their backs to the wall. It’s when we are the favorites that we under perform.
It’s 5 wins in a row. That’s all. I need everyone to believe. C’mon, join me in my world of hopes and dreams, goblins and fairies – It’s Disneyland and you can only stay until the Sharks slip up, so now is the time to come over to this side. It can last anything from 5h47min to 4 weeks,1 day, 3h and 47min.
