UPDATE: Durban’s first public protest to raise awareness for the plight of the rhino happened this morning down at City Hall….
Sometimes all you need is a spark. And we’re hoping our first march will ignite a flame amongst the public (and Durbanites in particular); we’re hoping that the same people who usually stand around their braais bemoaning the poaching problem in South Africa will feel invigorated to come support our next event. As it stands, we’re planning a beach day at the end of August. Where an entire section of the beachfront will be devoted to rhino awareness. And we really want parents to bring their kids too, as kids symbolise the generation of tomorrow that shouldn’t be deprived of our wildlife heritage.
We’ve got one march under our belt now. We’ve got our name out. Now it’s up to you guys to help us grow from strength to strength. Keep checking our facebook site (www.facebook.com/rhinomarch) for updates and new news.
Cheers…and keep marching

Awesome initiative, CapeShark! We all need to get behind this ASAP!
Fantastic! Wish I could join the March! High time we move back to KZN!! I’m gonna make work of this when hubby (eventually) gets back from China and stop missing his flights!
In fact…there is already about 30 odd jobs bookmarked for his attention when he gets back! (Woman on a mission)!
Thanks guys. Have enjoyed working on this project. Hopefully we’ll get some good exposure on the odd TV network or two. It’s a great rally cry for Durbanites to get involved in. Cheers
March on lads. Hope the turn-out is great.
@CapeShark (Comment 3) : Keep us posted and let us know if there’s something similar for Gauteng.
@vanmartin (Comment 5) : Will do.
Great initiative, may there be many a symbolic horn to be seen in Durban’s streets tomorrow. Wear your horn with pride.
@Salmonoid (Comment 7) : Thanks. I think there’ll be many a red-eye ont the streets tomorrow.
It’s very early 7-30! But we wanted it early to respect people’s work schedules and rush-hour.
