No Sadie for opener

The Bulls will be without midfielder Johann Sadie for this weekend’s Currie Cup opener against Griquas, at Loftus.

The former Province man, who made an announcement a few weeks back that he would be leaving Pretoria to play for the Cheetahs at the end of the year, was expected to make a big impact in the Currie Cup, after failing (quite spectacularly) to launch in Super Rugby in 2012. Team doctor Org Strauss has confirmed that the ankle injury which curtailed Sadie’s involvement in the premier Southern Hemisphere regional show-piece will keep him on the sidelines for another week, with his Bulls debut slated for the game against the Cheetahs in round two.

Also missing this week will be reserve hooker Bongi Mbonambe, who faces another month on the sidelines following an ankle ligament injury.

  • Reckon the Bulls will make much use of him?

Reckon they’ll use Ulrich Beyers more often, and then of course JJ Engelbrecht if or when he is released from the Bok group.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 1) :

I doubt JJ will be released anytime soon considering the injuries to Basson and JP.

He will more than likely be selected on the Bok bench as cover for centre and wing.
