The Sharks under 19 side have been forced into a number of changes at forward for Saturday afternoon’s clash against their Western province counterparts, but will be able to call on their first choice back line, at least.
SA Schools centre, Big Tyler Fisher, returns to the side after missing out last week and will once again start in the number 13 jersey. His replacement last week, Mike Phillips, is unlucky to miss out this time around, despite scoring a try in the losing effort against the Lions.
The injuries up front are to SA Schools hooker Morne du Plessis and number 8 Jean Pretorius. The former sits out for a week after taking a knock to the head against the Lions, but in the case of the latter, the injury seems far more serious. That number 8 jersey is starting to seem cursed, with Pretorius appearing to have sustained a serious knee injury against the Lions; he came into the side as the result of a season-ending knee injury for Johann Meyer, who wore number 8 in a pre-season friendly against Free State.
Sasolburg’s Theo Kruger comes in at 6, with Hendrik Uys shifting to the back of the scrum this week. Reserve hooker Warrick Venter takes over from du Pleesis, with Waterkloof’s Kirk Twine and St Davids’ Kealan Henry coming onto the bench to cover loose forward and hooker respectively.
The match kicks off at Newlands, just a shade before 3pm on Saturday.
