The weekend ahead promises to be filled with superb rugby action, not only in the local Currie Cup scene, but also looking towards the start of the inaugural Rugby Championship. With all this rugby around, I see us making a bit of money this weekend.

Starting with the International games, South Africa and New Zealand are favourite to get their Rugby Championship campaigns off to winning starts, and I have to agree here. Even though I am not sure by how far the Boks will beat the Argentinians, due to the unknown factor, I am pretty confident in the All Blacks giving the Wallabies a right old hiding.

Springboks – 15/100
Argentina – 11/2
Draw – 33/1

If you fancy having a go at the margins:
Boks by 12 or more – 6/10
Boks by 15 or more – 1/1
Boks by 18 or more – 16/10

Australia – 19/10
New Zealand – 5/10
Draw – 25/1

If you fancy the margins:
All Blacks by 3 or more – 65/100
All Blacks by 6 or more – 1/1
All Blacks by 9 or more – 14/10

Looking closer to home, we have three Currie Cup encounters this weekend, and with the new format, we will see strength vs strength in almost every game, which makes for great viewing and even better betting. If I can give you some advice, stay out of the Griquas vs Province game, as that can really go either way. Griquas may be good for an outside bet, but I am not going to risk it with so many other betting opportunities available. The Bulls and the Sharks look like good bets, and if you start adding multiples together, the odds are certainly in your favour.

Cheetahs – 18/10
Bulls – 5/10
Draw – 28/1

Griquas – 5/2
Western Province – 1/3
Draw – 33/1

Sharks – 5/10
Lions – 2/1
Draw – 28/1

If you are interested in the various margins, head on over to the Marshalls website (by clicking on the banner at the top left of the page, next to the Sharksworld logo) and see what they have.

England – 5/2
Proteas – 17/10
Draw – 14/10

Also starting today is the third test between the Proteas and England. If you fancy your cricketing knowledge more than your rugby, then this is the ideal opportunity to get involved in some spread betting, where you can make some money by calling high or low on team totals and individual scores. • You think our odds will change if we start without Jordaan at 13?
