Lions rugby and injuries seem to go together like ice cream and the beach, following news that two key players look set to miss the Lions’ key clash against Western Province this weekend.
Rugby365.com reports that hooker Callie Visagie and centre Waylon Murray are both on the injury list, and it is uncertain whether either player will be available for this weekend.
Murray, who has just returned following a lengthy lay-off due to a knee injury, has injured the same knee and will see a specialist on Tuesday to determine the full extent of the injury. This is bad news for the Springbok, whose knee seems to be set on ending the player’s career.
Visagie damaged ribs in the team’s loss to the Sharks this weekend, having to be put on oxygen after the game, and it will come down to how bad the pain is during the week, which will determine whether the player takes the filed this weekend.
Visagie is already the Lions’ second choice hooker after Bandise Maku, who has been on the injury list for some time, with no clear indication when he will return to action. Flanker Michael Rhodes did take part in some club action last week, and should be close to getting game time again.Tweet
