Marius Joubert comes in at inside centre in one of only two changes to the Sharks run-on fifteen for Saturday’s Currie Cup match against the Blue Bulls at Loftus.
The loss of Craig Burden to the national cause has necessitated a change at hooker, with 21-year-old Monde Hadebe handed his first start at this level. Another young hooker, Franco Marais, who like Hadebe represented his country at under 20 level, has been called up from the junior ranks to sit on the replacement bench.
Meyer Bosman, one of the form players for the Sharks over the last two weeks and also the first-choice goal-kicker, has failed to recover in time from a knee injury sustained against the Lions, meaning a start for Joubert in the somewhat unfamiliar number 12 jersey. The other player under an injury cloud, flakner Francois Kleinhans, has been passed fit and will start his second successive match wearing number 6.
The only other change to the match 22 sees the inclusion of a fifth forward on the bench. Brynard Stander, a stand-out player for the Sharks XV in the Vodacom Cup this year, could make his Currie Cup debut for the Sharks if called into action later in the game.
