In a bit of bad news for the Cheetahs, loose forward Frans Viljoen will play no further part in this year’s Currie Cup campaign.
The physical flanker, who had just returned to South Africa after a stint with Aironi in Italy, left the field after just a quarter of Saturday’s match against the Sharks, to be replaced by Davon Raubenheimer.
It has since been confirmed that Viljoen actually broke his arm and will face a lengthy period on the sidelines.

The amount of injuries this year are simply ridiculous! All to blame on the longer Super Rugby season or are there other factors at play?
@vanmartin (Comment 1) : I wonder how many Players has now been injured this year and how it compares to other years???
And how many South African players (Springbok and CC) are also currently injured. It must be quite a lot.
I think all of the 5 Super Rugby Unions must have at least 4 or 5 that makes it between 16 to 20 players in total.
So with all the injuries will they increase the fantasy transfers?
@Dunx (Comment 4) : haha
@Dunx (Comment 4) : I wouldn’t mind a rule that allows you to replace an injured player until such time that he is available for selection again, if you opt to keep him out once he’s eligible, you lose a trade, if you switch him back in you don’t.
No fantasy league that I have played has done this though, it would be cool if they do.
VERY big loss for the Cheetahs…Frans has been a physical monster since his return….
Who is the replacement….Raubenheimer…no where near the same player…
had Ashley still been there it would not have been such a great loss…
@Letgo (Comment 6) So when are you submitting your suggestions to Ultimate Fantasy Leagues! that would be awesome.
