Western Province have lost yet another player for the remainder of the Currie Cup season, but luckily it is not another loosie, as news filtered through that scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenhage has broken his leg and will take no further part in the competition.

Sport24.com reports that Duvenhage broke the fibula in his right leg after a heavy tackle in the Bulls clash on Saturday night, and was subsequently carried off the field of play.

Coach Allister Coetzee will now have to balance Louis Schreuder, who has been playing well in recent weeks, as well as Nic Groom, who stepped in when Duvenhage left the field, and his efforts were rewarded by scoring a good try.

More news on the injury front is that Ederies Arendse has bruised his shoulder and will miss this weekend’s clash against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein, being ruled out for ten days.
