Fouche in doubt for Bulls

The Blue Bulls, according to Beeld, have a crucial injury doubt ahead of Friday night’s Currie Cup clash against the Sharks in Durban.

Flyhalf Louis Fouche, who has been key to their campaign so far in that those victories that they have achieved have only come when the young pivot has been on-song, sustained a knee injury against the Cheetahs on Saturday afternoon and while no prognosis is yet available, looks to be in quite serious doubt for the Sharks game.

With the Bulls now effectively needing to win all their remaining games, they would have been targeting the Kings Park showdown as a must-win game; then again, the Sharks’ narrow loss against the Lions at Coca Cola Park has done their own hopes of a home semi final some harm and they will be determined to maintain their record as the only side in the competition yet to lose a game at home.

The Bulls will back Lionel Cronje at flyhalf should Fouche indeed be ruled out, but were handed a bit of relief with scrumhalf Jano Vermaak released from the Bok squad, presumably for the remainder of the competition.

  • Bad luck Bulls.

Must be hard for them to understand why they aren’t performing when they’re forking out tons of money trying to sign every player.

  • Wonder if they will get Morne Steyn back this week. Boks have Lambie, Goosen and Jantjies.

  • 4 Provincial teams No 1 flyhalfs yet they rate only 3 as a flyhalf and the fourth as a fullback. Not nice reading if you ask me. Take the oomph out of the teams at the top of the currie cup (yet i know lambie hasnt played in it yet this season)
