The Bulls may have lost Jacques Potgieter to the Bok cause this week, but will be able to call on another test player for Friday’s crunch game in Durban.
SuperSport’s Brenden Nel reveals that master kick-chaser, Bjorn Basson, will be back in action for the side this weekend. Basson suffered a serious abdominal injury against the Crusaders in an away Super Rugby knock-out fixture earlier in the year. he was forced to remain in New Zealand for surgery and recovery as the rest of the team flew home and was only last week declared fit to play, when a sudden family bereavement prevented him from doing so.
Basson has proved a deadly weapon against the Sharks in the past, perhaps more so in Griquas colours than in the light blue of his adopted side, but his return will certainly boost Pine Pienaar’s under-fire team, whose narrow win against the Cheetahs last week may have lifted them temporarily off the foot of the log, but otherwise hasn’t bought them much breathing space at all.
