With Silly season in full-swing, Unions are buying, lending and signing left, right and centre. And with the Blue Bulls Union, apparently having an open cheque-book, one can understand us fans being somewhat nervous at this time of the year.
The Sharks have never been known to hang on to their young talent, and we seem to be losing very valuable ones, from time to time to other Unions.
This time around, however, I can reveal that The Sharks have done well to retain one of our Super Stars! And I am extremely relieved to say that for at least the next 3 years, I will be able to sleep rather well!
Marcell Coetzee has decided to stay with the Sharks and has signed another 3 year contract with the Union today! Coetzee will be ours until at least 2015!
From the bottom of my heart – Thank you, Sharks! Thank you, Agent! And thank you, Marcell!
Coetzee made his debut in Super Rugby for the Sharks against the Brumbies on Saturday 7 May 2011, one day before his 20th birthday. Since then, he has grown in leaps and bounds. Not only was he the best tackler in the 2012 Super Rugby competition, but he has also acquired some valuable skills in offloading and getting over the advantage line.
Currently with the Springbok squad, Marcell is playing a valuable part in our National side at the tender age of 21. Heyneke Meyer, Springbok coach, included him in the national squad to face England in a test series where Coetzee made his Springbok test debut on 9 June 2012
From myself, all your fans and particularly Sharksworld – Congratulations and thanks for the rugby-watching pleasure you will give us for the years to come!Tweet
