Springbok prop Coenie Oosthuizen has picked up another injury and is subsequently ruled out of the Cheetahs’ all-important promotion relegation clash against the Kings over the next two weeks, as well as ruling himself out of the Springboks End of Year Tour.

Supersport.com’s Brenden Nel reports that the Cheetahs tighthead suffered a back injury in his team’s loss to Western Province this weekend, which will see the big man out of action for 8 – 12 weeks.

The Cheetahs are now without the services of Coenie as well as Johan Goosen, who was ruled out of action until next season after picking up a knee injury. Both players were rushed through their rehabilitation programs to be ready for the Sprignboks, and are both now missing in action for lengthy periods as a result.

  • these okes are actually a bit screwed now… wonder if the Kings can beat them?

Also wonder if we relegated the right team from Super Rugby…

  • Cheetahs just have to give the ball to Rhule and they will be fine ;-)

Hope Coenie’s injury opens the door for Marcel Van der Merwe…A prop that plays equally well on both sides, weighs around 125kg, very mobile, can offload, score tries and steal ball…the perfect modern day prop

  • @robdylan (Comment 1) : Lions fired their CC winning coach and captain – they don’t deserve their spot just for that reason.

Old Ackerman is just riding high on Mitchel’s hard work, by next year’s SR they would have been far worse than ever before.

btw….any news on which team Mitchel will be joining next year?

Maybe give the Tjietas SR spot to a Griquas/Puma hybrid team

  • This is the best chance kings will have to be in cc. Sorry to cheetahs fans but I think kings got a 50/50 chance to win.
