The Irish squad for this season’s Autumn internationals has been named.
Ireland will face the Boks in Dublin on 10 November, in the first match of the latter’s end of year tour, and will also play games against Fiji and Argentina during November. Former Cheetahs hooker Richardt Strauss, who has been a standout player for Leinster over the past three years, while serving out his qualification period, is finally able to represent his adopted country and has been included in the squad.
Brian O’Driscoll, with 120 caps, is one of the most experienced in the group – and also the captain – with other experienced players like locks Donncha O’Callaghan and Paul O’Connell, flyhalf Ronan O’Gara and centre Gordon D’Arcy balancing out a number of new players. Aside from Strauss, Iain Henderson, David Kilcoyne and Luke Marshall are the other uncapped players in the group.
