The Lions held their annual Awards Ceremony last night, awarding players for their contribution to the Union for the rugby season.
Lionel Mapoe walked away with two awards, being the backline player of the year as well as the Players’ Player of the Year.
Franco van der Merwe was named forward player of the year while JC Janse van Rensburg was named as overall Player of the Year.
All the winners are listed below:
U-19 Backline Player of the Year – Harold Vorster
U-19 Forward Player of the Year – Dirk Kotze
U-19 Player of the Year – Albertus Smith
U-21 Backline Player of the Year – Robert de Bruyn
U-21 Forward Player of the Year – Etienne Oosthuizen
U-21 Player of the Year – Stephan de Wit
Referee’s Award – Rashivenge Fhatuweni
Senior Backline Player of the Year – Lionel Mapoe
Senior Forward Player of the Year – Franco van der Merwe
Senior Lions Man (Players Player) of the Year – Lionel Mapoe

Yea . i feel the same about the Springbok player nominations …
Funny how the 2 players disappearing to the WP werent included. As well as the 2 loan players.
Pity Sharks can not get JC and Adriaanse as backup for super 15 as Sharks is well covered in all positions except 1 and 3.
