The Kings have finally been able to confirm the signing of two players ahead of Super Rugby 2013, one of which has drawn speculation over the last few days after his Currie Cup heroics.
According to SuperSport.com,Demetri Catrakilis will be with the Kings next year, after the announcement was made a few months ago already, but was denied by Western Province coach Allister Coetzee – saying that he would like the young flyhalf to remain in the Cape.
Another signing, that of Bandise Maku, can be confirmed after an announcement was made a month ago, which was denied on twitter by the player himself. The player has confirmed via his twitter account that he has in fact signed with the Kings, and will be joining them for pre-season training in November.
Catrakilis and Maku join Steven Sykes and Andries Strauss as four ‘big’ name signing for the union ahead of the start of Super Rugby.
Another signing, although not as well known, is that of Pumas scrumhalf Shaun Venter, was confirmed this week.

@robdylan (Comment 1) :
kings need more than good players … they need great players
@Zibbie (Comment 2) : With the way things are going over in Vrystaat country, good may be all they need to stay off of dead last
@robdylan (Comment 1) : we need a good scrumhalf too, that Falie Oelschig is a woeful scrumhalf, about as crap as Duvenhage is
WTF is wrong with WP?!?!?!?
Cape Town – Western Province players caused some chaos during their Currie Cup victory parade when they threw money at the crowd assembled in Khayelitsha.
After an 11-year drought, WP beat the Sharks 25-18 in last Saturday’s final in Durban, and paraded their new silverware through the city on Tuesday.
When the procession reached Khayelitsha, the team found their route lined by thousands of fans.
Players, including wing Bryan Habana, nearly caused a stampede when they threw money, including R50 notes, at the crowd.
As the money was thrown from the bus, fans jostled to get their hands on the cash. There were no reported injuries
Don’t forget the Cheetahs franchise can draw from Griquas as well. Quality players like le Roux, Jansen, Stemmet, Schoeman, Landman and Brummer give them massive depth
@KSA Shark © (Comment 5) :
Hahahaha
At the same time – Sharks supporters were standing by hoping they would throw the Currie Cup at them.
@TRF_Ezequiel (Comment 6) :
Their two locks (who made our Currie Cup team of Tournament) in Ligtoring Landman and Matin Muller will both surely be called up?!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 5) : As mentioned in the other thread – really retarded thing to do.
@vanmartin (Comment 9) : oops, didn’t see it was already being discussed elsewhere
everones signing new players accept the Sharks
@sharks_lover (Comment 11) : We got good players. We just need to win the finals is all. Not sure new players will do that for us – its a mind thing (I think)
