Beast coming home after all

Contrary to reports this morning indicating Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira could face Scotland this weekend, it has been reported that the prop is on his way home.

Mtawarira will return home tonight after it was decided that it is in the player’s best interest to not take any further part in the tour, which include matches against Scotland and England.

Mtawarira was cleared to play by doctors and his cardiologist in Durban, but it is in the player’s best interest to take the rest of the year off.

The conditioning is not life threatening, but needs to be managed properly, according to team doctor Craig Roberts.

Whether Mtawarira will be replaced in the squad is another matter, with CJ van der Linde and Heinke van der Merwe already in the squad.

  • @MJ (Comment 2) : Someone should whip up a ratings article giving all the Sharks players in the squad above-average scores. That should keep us going for a few days at least!

  • @vanmartin (Comment 5) : I thought Marcell Coetzee was a beast when he came on! Definitely deserves a start against Scotland. Alberts has earned a break.

  • @shaniboi (Comment 27) : I don’t think its a bad thing. I still am furious of the way Reinhardt played in the final. I don’t know if it was big head, or if it was a bad day at the office, but I feel he showed allot of what he actually is in that game. I still think McLeod is really getting a bad deal from the Sharks, he gets the ball out very quickly and get the back line moving. He has been instrumental in the way we have played the last few years. He doesn’t get enough credit for what he actually does. Rory is a great player, I watched a game he played the other day and he played pretty well. I think he might have matured being over in France. But we will have to wait and see about that ;)

  • @Uli (Comment 28) : I recall when Rory left the Sharks I was not really disappointed to see him go. Not that I have anything against him, but at the time he was not really the answer at 9 anymore. So unless he improved a lot from his overseas stint, I personally would prefer the Sharks stick with Reinach and McLeod as the first choice 9′s. If the Sharks do plan to get Rory back, then that can only be in place of Hofmann who has hardly set the world alight.

Reinach had an awful final, but he is still young and can only learn from that experience.
