John Smit could be making a come back in the 2013 Super Rugby tournament, and not with the Sharks.
If rumours, News24.com and the Cape Times are to be taken seriously, John Smit is being touted as a short term solution to the Stormers’ current hooker crises.
Deon Fourie, who spent much of the Currie Cup season on the side of the scrum, is set to start in the number 2 jersey when the Stormers’ campaign kicks off, but it is backup to Fourie that is the problem.
Currently, both second and third choice hookers, Tiaan Liebenberg and Scarra Ntubeni, are on the sidelines and not able to take a spot on the bench, leaving the Stormers horribly exposed in the front row.
We will have more information on this as it becomes clearer, but a quick stop in Cape Town between his suspected move from Saracens to Toulon, is a logistical nightmare, but not impossible. A loan deal with Saracens is not completely out of the question, as Smit is currently second choice behind Schalk Brits. We can only wait and see.Tweet
