There was some sad news over the weekend, with various news sources revealing that Thomas Jantjies, the 46-year-old father of flyhalves Elton and Tony, passed away in tragic circumstances on Saturday.
Jantjies senior, a warrant officer in the SANDF, died in hospital after being stung by a bee. He has been cited as a tremendous influence on the careers of both of his young sons; elder brother Elton made his Springbok test debut last year and has recently joined the Stormers for Super Rugby, whilst Tony, still under 21, plays for the Blue Bulls and featured for the victorious Junior Springbok side in 2012.
We’d like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Jantjies family, as well as all their friends, on the untimely passing of Thomas.
